Blush Response - Intense DensityBlush Response is the industrial electronic project of Joey Blush (Joey Gonzales), a Cuban-American musician from New York who currently lives and works in Berlin. He is known for his collaborations with Rhys Fulber, Front Line Assembly, and Fear Factory, as well as his YouTube channel, where he reviews and demonstrates various electronic instruments and extensively discusses contemporary techniques for creating electronic and industrial sounds. Besides playing music, he also works as a sound designer, creating sounds for both computer games and contemporary instruments from many well-known manufacturers.

The name Blush Response was taken from Philip Dick's cult book "Blade Runner" and the film of the same name. The term "Blush Response" in the film refers to a specific, involuntary physical reaction—the dilation of capillaries, or blushing—measured by the Voight-Kampff apparatus to test empathy and used to distinguish humans from replicants.

I admit that the name perfectly fits and is the quintessence of this artist's music: cold, slightly dirty, rhythmic, trance-like, harkening back to the best achievements in industrial electronics and EBM, while also looking very far into the future.

Over the years, Joey Blush has developed his own unique style and craft. He creates his music primarily using a complex array of modular synthesizers, backed by trance-like rhythmic textures programmed on the Elektron Octatrack. This combination of danceable industrial electronics and abstract, often noisy synthetic sounds produces a perfect effect. The music is both simple and free, yet also time-varying, making it a never-ending listen. The atmosphere is truly cyberpunk and dark, almost sultry. Improvisations on analog instruments often create a wall of abstract, diverse sounds. From acid runs to powerful preparations, occasionally diversified with samples or dialogue.

A great album. 60 minutes of powerful analog electronica/dark techno. If you haven't heard Blush Response yet, I highly recommend checking out this extraordinary project.
